Cat Stretch and Shell

This is the 2nd part of our Release and Realign series.
The very basic Cat Stretch exercise in Pilates is one of the gentlest and simplest ways to stretch out the back. Most cats making this movement in the morning when they wake – you can do it too!
Follow the instructions above. Some of the benefits from doing this Pilates exercise can be achieved if you do it on a regular basis.
To get the most benefit out of doing this exercise make sure your body is lined up properly as shown in video.
Breath in and out of the rocking movements not holding for more than a couple of seconds at either end. Really draw your belly button up and into the lower back to achieve that deeper hollowing of the pelvis floor and abdominal muscles as you arc your back up.
Ok – this should keep you going for a while!
The studio is closed from today (yippee!) July 24th until Tuesday August 4th, 2015. We are all looking forward to a much needed break and look forward to catching up with you as soon as we get back to work!
Our new term starts on Tuesday August 4th and I will put up a little blog letting you know how much pain fun this is going to be, but let’s just say your adductors will be crying for joy!
Phone the studio to reserve your slot – 091 760 044.
And don’t forget to sign up to our blog for (sometimes) regular updates on what is going on at the studio and some very interesting nutrition tips to keep you fuelled for your workout!
Ok – bon vacance to me and happy Race Week to all of you who have chosen to stay home for the Galway Races. Follow me on Instagram to see what I get up to while I am on my holidays!
There will most definitely be some easy but effective exercises I will happily share with you!
