Last week, we shared our thoughts on a few Lifestyle changes we are working on right now. Truth be told lads and ladies, it’s not easy!
However, last weekend we were fortunate enough to steal away for a few nights, to the lovely Castlemartyr Hotel in Cork. If you have not been, then you should go!
Sometimes, just getting away for a few days really helps when trying to break old (or bad!) habits. We walked and walked and walked. Cork city is lovely for walking around, and let’s face it, the weather has been cracking!
So here we are back to sharing a few more thoughts on how to get started on feeling better about ‘you’. Well, for starters, and especially if you can’t get away for a few days, just get outside. Kick a ball with the kids, of go for a nice long walk with the dog or a few friends.
Walking, is the absolute easiest way to get started and the physical and mental benefits are massive.
So this year, and because we are slowly accepting how difficult it can be to motivate ourselves to get (and keep!) moving, we have signed ourselves up to the annual Darkness into Light walk in Galway city.
What’s so special about this walk? The people. Those who walk are walking for themselves, walking for a friend, walking for a loved one, or sadly, a lost one.
We can spend so much time giving ourselves a hard time because we are not meeting our own expectations, when the reality is, we are doing just fine. We have our health, work (and lovely clients like you) keeps us on our toes and we have each other. There is always someone here to keep an eye on us; Someone to check in with.
When we think about those suffering in darkness right now, many of them don’t know who to turn to, or where to turn. Many walk around blindly, not knowing that this phase will pass.
There is always light; There is always hope.
So, why all this talk about light and hope? Well, we have decided to do something crazy this year. We are going to encourage each and every one of you (yes – every client and instructor at Mindful Movements) to join us for this walk.
Why are we going to drag your weary butts out of bed at 4:15am on Saturday May 7th, 2016?
Look, right now, the registration fee is only €20 until March 28th, 2016. So we are going to do our best to register as many of you as we can over the next ten days, then after that, we will continue to register the rest of you at the higher rate.
All the money raised goes to Pieta House.
Pieta House is a non-profit organisation providing a specialised treatment programme for people who have suicidal ideation or who participate in self- harming
Their flagship fundraiser, the phenomenon that is Darkness Into Light, is an event that is almost entirely organised by their amazing volunteers and continues to go from strength to strength. This year, on May 7th, is Darkness into Light’s eighth birthday.
This unique event takes place at the beginning of summer. Thousands of people will wake up in the wee hours of the morning to take part in Darkness Into Light. Every year it touches the lives of so many people in over 100 cities across Ireland and internationally.
Darkness Into Light is very much about hope. HOPE is what PIETA House endeavours to give each person who comes to them for help, in their time of need. PIETA House helps offer HOPE for the future all the while tackling the grave issue of suicide and self-harm in Ireland.
So we have only one question left to ask …
We will have a sign up sheet at the front desk!
See you at the studio.
